Greetings, I’m Michael Welch; I’d like to talk about my MrMikes piano mat. The piano mat is the first MrMikesMusicMat that I designed. I believe the piano is the most important tool for anyone learning music. The visual and audible use of the piano is very helpful.
The download version is an 8 ½ x 11-letter size graphic illustration. I’ve split it into 2 octaves that can be taught and explained to your students. It has a middle C and written lower and higher text for the 2 octaves.
I currently have in stock plastic 9 x 12 piano mats. There’s also an 18 x 24 double-sided version. These custom made/limited editions are available via my web sites.
I have several classroom exercises to teach the notes of the piano. My diatonic and chromatic note tiles are the best tools for early learners. Bingo chips can also be used. This activity can be at tables or on the floor. Kids/students love the colored diatonic notes tiles and it’s very easy for them to match the diatonic notes with the notes on the piano mat. As they progress I use my chromatic note tiles.
